The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a far-Left, anti-White organisation which was recent dumped by the FBI as a ‘resource’ on ‘hate crimes’, is lamenting the fact that South Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor Glenn McConnell has been selected as the next president of the College of Charleston. The SPLC writes that ‘McConnell’s interest in and promotion of Confederate history and culture have been a hallmark of his three decades in public office.’ The Leftist US media has organised opposition to McConnell’s selection. For example, the Left-leaning Charleston City Paper writes that ‘hundreds of students joined an anti-McConnell protest’ this week. In a piece that reads much more like an editorial than real journalism, the City Paper continues, ‘Against overwhelming dissension from faculty and students, the Board chose McConnell as CofC’s new president. At this point, many students feel that McConnell’s appointment represents a systemic failure not only within the Board of Trustees, but within South Carolina politics at large.’ The same publication ran another article which shows a group of Black protestors with bullhorns and homemade signs denouncing McConnell. The article noted that the Black Student Union has ‘expressed concern over the school’s choice of McConnell, who has no prior experience in higher education and who fought to keep the Confederate flag on Statehouse grounds.’ The college has more than 200 student organisations, including nine for non-White or ‘multicultural’ students, but apparently has no room for a Southern or White student union.
