It is also interesting to note how we are shaped by our influences based on the past.

An example would be my fifth great grandfather on my mother&#039;s side (I do a lot of genealogy research).  He was a Hessian soldier with the von Bose Regiment that deserted in 1782 in the state of Virginia.  Obviously the allure of what this country presented made it enticing enough for him to stay.

Again, I find all of this history fascinating, and your article makes sense as to why the lower South would view the British soldier much differently.
