I live in Texas and many here already feel that way. I live in an area that had two large POW camps. They held the remains of the New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts regiments that TRIED to invade Texas in 1863. Look up the battles of Aransas Pass, Battle of Galveston and the Red River Campaign. Also, General Edmund Kirby Smith.

Actually, I’d like to see ‘em *try* and sell Texas. See what Texians do then. I’m pretty sure the two most famous battle cries in Texian history (‘Come and take it!’ and ‘Remember the Alamo!’) will be heard once more.

Don’t worry, the Mexicans will get around to that soon enough. Meanwhile, the Yankees are busy destroying Confederate Texas. I’ve seen posts by assorted guidos, vinnies and Theresas all declaring that we give or sell Texas back to Mexico. We’ll, why don’t we begin by giving Maine back to Canada?

If that’s how they feel, they should probably rename the school. Texian heritage is every bit as “offensive” as Southron heritage. Don’t profane the name of W.B. Travis by keeping his name attached to a school that throws out the culture for which he died.
