Agreed Harold. “Italy” has it’s own secession movements, most recently, the region comprising Venice and, for many years now, the Southern half which used to be the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

Massive European immigration during the late 1800′s to early 1900′s was a result of all of this Euro-nationalising/centralising. The forced unification of the Germanic States, the Italian peninsula, Belgium, and the Eastern European States as well. Imagine what the world would be like if things were left they way they were.

Part of what is happening I think in Europe and here is that as the ‘nationality’ of ‘Belgian’ or ‘American’ continues to be diluted by massive immigration of third worlders the false nationalism is falling away and the authentic nationalism is re-asserting itself as people set aside the abstract identity of ‘Belgian’ or ‘American’ and replace it with more authentic national identity.

Thanks for posting this Michael. I’m glad to see support for secessionism growing across the board; even though I prefer the Vlaams Belang and their ethno-centric views to the N-VA.
