Dont believe everything you read in the hostile anti Scottish, british press, there were between 9,500 & 12,000 people at the march & rally, it was organised by a wide variety of pro Independence groups & organisations largely through social networking sites. Next year will be bigger & better. Even spotted a Confederate flag..

VS, it's quite unfortunate that most Monarchists in Britain, and even in general, oppose secessionism and pan-nationalism out of fear that it will lead to an explosion of Republics. I feel that pan-nationalism would lead to republics at first because of the decidedly pro-Republican slant of most secessionist groups nowadays; but then restoration would prove less difficult in the end due to the smaller, decentralised nature of these states.

Honestly, I've never been a fan of decentralisation myself. I've always been strongly nationalist and authoritarian, but I embrace decentralisation in the best interests of the Southern states and Southern tradition and favour a 'Authoritarianism in One State'policy rather reminiscent of Huey Long and his iron rule over Louisiana. Each state should pursue it's own government within a Southern Confederacy.

VC, sadly very few Scots seem to still embrace the Jacobite tradition. Of the Jacobites I know, I'm probably the most Scottish (being a little less than half Scottish by blood, though I've had no ancestors born in Scotland since the 19th century), a sad tale to be sure. Most Jacobites these days tend to be English, Greek immigrants to England, and Americans of many backgrounds. A lot of Scots Republicans and Scots Socialists cite the Declaration of Arbroath as support for their opposition to monarchy, which is of course utter bullocks. The Declaration of Arbroath declares Scotland free from English monarchs, not free from monarchy itself. 'Twas a document drawn up in defense of the Scottish monarchy. If only more Scots understood that, and understood that Scotland has never been stronger (and never can be stronger) than when she was ruled by her own kings.

I do support the idea of dissolving the illegal Unions (UK and US are both forced and illegal unions nowadays), but the freed nations that come from those dissolusions will require monarchs to keep their people united. Republicanism is too divisive by its very nature. And that is a dangerous thing.

Interesting. It concerns me that the current Scottish independence movement does not seem to entail Scottish Monarchism, but then again most monarchists in the UK are pro-Union {just saying the words pro-Union, even outside an American context, embitters my tongue} anyway so I'm not really surprised. While on the whole I'm fond of a devolved United Kingdom with the House of Windsor still ruling, that may change depending on how this all plays out. Also, I noted a great deal of Venetian flags amongst the marchers, along with Flemish and Catalan flags. Independence for all people, freedom for Dixie!
