Matthew at MissouriTenth.com (who has appeared on the SNN podcast) has another cartoon out in his animated series ‘Dixieland.’ This one deals with the massive demographic change that has been forced upon much of the South in the last couple of decades, resulting in the displacement of Southern people and culture. If you like the ‘Dixieland’ series you might be interested in some of the products Matthew has with their likeness on them. Thanks for supporting his work!

Matthew at Missouri Tenth.com,
You are a good artist and have a unique perspective.
Not to change the subject, but I noticed on one of your last posts on this sight, you had a picture of William Clarke Quantrill (I will be reading “Quantrill At Lawrence: The Untold Story” soon).
Did you know he was a Buckeye?
New Silence Dogood: Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I think I read that he came from Ohio when 17? Being a native Missourian, I’m always amazed at the history that Missouri has. There’s a lot of depth to it, and it had (and still has) a tremendous amount of confederate activity and support. We had a lot of well known characters get their start in Missouri and Kansas too – and I’d debate that the War of Southern Independence really was kicked off with the Border War between Kansas and Missouri – and was influenced heavily by folks in northwestern Missouri.
I’m not exactly sure what age Quantrill moved from Ohio (I’ll have to look it up but I believe he was a schoolteacher before he moved to Missouri).
Yes, I would agree that the War of Southern Independence really started with the Border War (During the 1850′s).
