There is no more intellectually stifling environment than US universities. This statement may sound absurd to those indoctrinated to believe that these government-funded and administered educational institutions are beacons of free thought, tolerance and curiosity. But try bucking the status quo at any US university and see how you are received. Try rejecting both Keynesianism and Marxism if you are in the economics department. Try rejecting the article of faith that race is just a ‘social construct’ if you are in the biology or social sciences departments. Try rejecting the linear view of history that we are in the midst of a progressive march onwards and upwards if you are in the history department. And try rejecting political correctness in any department on a US campus and see how long you are tolerated. Critical thinking, for all the lip service paid to this term, has nearly been eliminated. In its place is a nearly uniform belief in and promotion of feminism, ‘anti-racism’ (which is just a code word for anti-White), secularism and the entire Progressive agenda. Dissenters from the orthodox religion of political correctness are not welcomed.
We have another example of the truth of the above statements. This example comes from the University of Louisville. The university’s president, John Ramsey, has vowed not to eat at Chick-fil-A. Left-wing student groups as well as well-known Leftist websites such as Huffington Post are organising against the Atlanta-based, Christian-owned fast food company. Anna Susman describes the PC Left’s moral outrage and demands:
University of Louisville students cannot use Chick-fil-A sauce in good conscience.
Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A’s president, has long supported groups that fight against LGBT rights, spending millions through their charitable arm WinShape.
…U of L students are demanding, through a petition, the Chick-fil-A located in their student activity center be removed. Thus far, it has received more than 1,000 signatures.
Peggy Hay, the U of L student who started her campus’ petition, told WHAS11 that her university does a good job of including and supporting all kinds of student groups, but allowing Chick-fil-A to remain in their student activity center would be “a slap in the face to one of those groups.”
Notice that you are ‘included’ only if you have the approved opinions.
U of L is just one of many college campuses to disapprove of the Chick-fil-A president’s political stance.
What does it mean for the PC establishment to ‘disapprove’ of your political stances? Exclusion, marginalisation, moral indignation leveled against you and ultimately (as in the case of the Afrikaners in South Africa or many other groups or individuals which are on the outs) more direct action against you (while the elites turn their heads and pretend not to notice).
This week, Wichita State University and the University of Kansas also created petitions for the same cause.
Of course, ‘LGBT rights’ is just the latest social crusade in a long line going back to the founding of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the birth of New England culture (which spread out across the Upper North and was later pushed upon all of the United States). In this unrelenting and fanatical war on traditional society and civilisation there is no room for dissent.
Update: Chick-fil-A is preparing for a homosexual ‘kiss-in’ as Christians rally in support of the besieged company.

The most Orwellian thing they did is rename Marxism “Critical Theory”—- as if there is any critical thinking to it.
Also— this is the “why” of the saga of the “Scholarship Student.” Richard Rodriguez, a gay Rhodes scholar from the hispanic barrio wrote a book called “Hunger of Memory” years ago, about how horrible it was to be taken out of hispanic poverty and given a free ride to Harvard. He pretty much encapsulated the reality of many of those “students” today.
Of the Ivy League people I’ve known (and its a few) only about 10% had parents who actually paid for them to go there. The rest were heavy loans (thinking the college was a real leg up) or “Scholarship Student.” —These latter two feel VERY GRATEFUL, not to mention out of their depth, also usually very ambitious (whether they’re particularly IQ smart or not— and this is what allows them to buy into what’s said in those places.
A lot of rich people don’t really seem to go there anymore. —since it’s a PC scholarship track.
This is pretty much a non-issue to me. There is nothing wrong with the students petitioning to get rid of an organization that they don’t won’t in their student activity center. If enough students agree that they don’t like Chick-Fil-A stance than discontinue the contract. On the other hand, if enough students support Chick-Fil-A being there they should stay. I am sure that their student organization has a process of removing and bringing in companies to the student activity center.
From a capitalist standpoint though, if the majority of students simply refuse to purchase food from this Chick-Fil-A it would force the company out of business there. In fact, I think that boycotting corporations that you don’t approve of is far more effective than signing a petition. Whatever happens in this situation, people who don’t attend that facility or pay state taxes should respect the community of U of L enough to make their own decisions and resolves this matter in the way that they think is best for their student body. After all, the Yankees already engage in enough busybody activity for the whole world plus.
Chad, the issue is that universities are brainwashing our young people with their Marxist anti-Southern and anti-White poison. And thanks to the socioeconomic environment created by progressives with government sponsorship of “education”, a university degree is pretty much mandatory for almost all decent white collar jobs and for that matter many other skilled labor jobs. The University of Louisiana’s obvious progressive slant does not reflect the general views of the Louisiana citizenry, which is taxed to subsidize the institution. That’s the gripe here. I don’t think Michael intended to protest the right for people to boycott Chick-Fil-A or anything like that. But I’m sure you would probably realize that a good number if not the majority of the students joining the anti-Christian and anti-traditional values bandwagon are greatly helped along in developing such views by the UL faculty and its administration.
Jared,
I have no doubt that there are some professors at any college or university who spend the majority of their time pushing their own personal social agendas. However, everyone has a choice to what type of college they wish to pursue their education at. No one has forced any of these students to attend this particular university. There are plenty of other private colleges and university that do not push for this type of social change. It is their choice on whether or not they embrace the social agendas that they are being taught.
Nor do I believe that these students are being “brainwashed”. That is a horrible generic term that is thrown around whenever someone tries to shift the blame of the action of the individual to another individual or collective. These young adults have the ability to make their own choices and must live with the consequences of said choice.
