Apparently less than pleased with the US meddling in their internal affairs, Egyptians made the most of Hillary Clinton’s visit to their country (where she met with the real rulers of Egypt – the military leaders – who are propped up with many billions of dollars from Washington, DC) and pelted her motorcade with tomatoes and shoes. This is surely not the way the planet’s elites liked to be received when they venture abroad to bully and threaten Third World countries. Reuters has the story:
Protesters threw tomatoes and shoes at U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s motorcade on Sunday during her first visit to Egypt since the election of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.
A tomato struck an Egyptian official in the face, and shoes and a water bottle landed near the armoured cars carrying Clinton’s delegation in the port city of Alexandria.
A senior state department official said that neither Clinton nor her vehicle, which were around the corner from the incident, were struck by any of the projectiles.
Protesters chanted: “Monica, Monica”, a reference to Former President Bill Clinton’s extra-marital affair. Some chanted: “leave, Clinton”, Egyptian security officials said.
You’ve got to hand it to these Egyptians – they certainly have an excellent sense of humour!
By the way, the vast majority of Egyptians oppose the US aid, most of which goes to their military rulers.
I guess Egyptians do not like 3 ring circus’. She is a bit of a clown or is she the elephant in the room? From the picture she just might be that elephant.
