Nationalists in Greece are running a blood drive for the Greek people. Sounds perfectly normal and in fact this would strike many people as a good cause, right? Apparently it has enraged globalists and anti-nationalist elements in that country. Reuters has the story:
A drive by the far-right Golden Dawn party to get Greeks to donate blood only for their fellow citizens has outraged doctors and medical authorities, who have slammed the initiative as racist and inhuman.
Golden Dawn, which enjoyed unprecedented success in last month’s election after promising to rid Greece of all immigrants, put up posters in Athens calling for volunteers to donate blood “only for Greeks who need our help.”
“All the bottles of blood we collect will be handed over to patients we choose and to no one else,” the party said in a statement. “This right to choose belongs not just to Golden Dawn members, but to all volunteer blood donors.”
The party, which denies it is neo-Nazi, said it had managed to get such a blood bank up and running at a state hospital in Athens.
But health officials said this would be illegal, and the hospital’s manager, Yiannis Stefanou, said there would be no discrimination as the rules required all blood donations to be made available to all patients who need them.
One of the biggest doctors’ unions in Athens said the Golden Dawn initiative was an “insane, unscientific, illegal and racist action” and promised to do everything necessary to protect the “sacred procedure of blood donation”.
“This would be inhuman. If someone needs blood, he or she should have every right to get it no matter who they are,” a health ministry official said.
There are several things to point out about this story. First, notice how the mainstream media manages to get in the label ‘neo-Nazi’ by mentioning that the party denies this description. This is an obvious attempt to marginalise the Greek nationalists. Do media sources mention that Greek Leftists deny being ‘neo-Communists’ every time they write an article on them? Of course not. This is an indication of the anti-nationalist bias of the media. Second, notice that Golden Dawn took a stand for freedom of association and claimed that all groups have this right – a right that the globalists clearly wish to deny. Third, the globalists referred to Greek nationalists as ‘inhuman’ and yet they wish to portray those they disagree with as ‘racist.’ The irony of this is exceedingly rich. And fourth, notice that the doctors’ union quoted at the end claims that those in need of blood have a right to it. If someone has a right to blood then obviously this creates an obligation on the part of someone else to give their blood. This is what Leftists refer to as ‘positive-liberty.’ It’s the same sort of logic that claims people have a ‘right’ to health-care, housing, education or a new car. If someone has a right to something like this then someone else has an obligation to provide it for them. This is entirely at odds with the classical understanding of liberty.
People may be offended by it but those who donate blood have the right to discriminate with regards to who is to receive it. Basic property rights.
If someone has the ‘right’ to a blood, does the state have a ‘right’ to take it by force if needed ? Just askin’?
