Senators support military detention of US citizens

November 28, 2011
By

The collapse of a once relatively free society (yes, that was a long time ago) into a belligerent police-state continues to take place before our eyes. Establishment elites seem to be willing to go to any length to maintain their hold on power as the economy worsens, the demographics are purposefully changed and public unrest grows. The following article is excerpted from the ACLU’s website:

Carl Levin & John McCain plot against US citizens

[T]he Senate is gearing up for a vote on Monday or Tuesday that goes to the very heart of who we are as Americans. The Senate will be voting on a bill that will direct American military resources not at an enemy shooting at our military in a war zone, but at American citizens and other civilians far from any battlefield — even people in the United States itself.

Senators need to hear from you, on whether you think your front yard is part of a “battlefield” and if any president can send the military anywhere in the world to imprison civilians without charge or trial.

The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. Even Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) raised his concerns about the NDAA detention provisions during last night’s Republican debate. The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself.

The worldwide indefinite detention without charge or trial provision is in S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act bill, which will be on the Senate floor on Monday. The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.

‘Even Ron Paul raised concerns’? What’s with that? Dr. Paul has been one of the first who has raised concerns about infringements of civil liberties. More than once is has been a lone voice opposing tyranny.

There is a ancient Greek motto the American gun culture has taken up use as an answer to people who argue for UK-style prohibitionist gun control legislation here in the States: “Molon labe”; “Come and take them.”

Looks like a new motto might be in order: “Come and get us.”

The Federals pass this thing and I can pretty much guarantee big troubles for them down the road.

    BIG troubles.

There was a big debate going on on infowars.com about how this is blown out of the water and not to be true. The way of its wording confuses some people. Still confuses me. But from my understanding a normal U.S. Citzen or Lawful person in the U.S. will be givin thier rights when detained if need be. But If you are with the terrorist groups will you be locked up by military etc etc.

Still, I have problems with this. If you are with or supporting Al Queada or the Taliban and you are a U.S. Citzen they will as we all know throw away your citzenship and lock you up no matter what. Or they will kill you with a drone like Anwar was. The wording is not really broad but I understand that the U.S. Government, Military and Police will ignore this no matter if you are a Citzen or not and lock you up without any charges brought against you or anything or kill you, to me I think if things get bad in the U.S. the U.S. will consider just about anything that opposes the U.S. Goverment will be a terrorist and they will try to lock you up. Really, the whole thing is confusing and well McCain is like this. drumming up something that is confusing as hell and contradicting himself.

Ron Paul is the only person on the hill I respect…..He is a Southerner at heart.

    Chris,

It might some fine and dandy to deny those people associated with the “terrorist” but who is going to get to decide who are the faithful good “citizens” and who are the terrorist. Even if its written in the manner that your post suggests how long will it take the Feds to completely corrupt it? This proposed law of course, completely ignores the US constitution… but that isn’t something that is new either.

Well, I agree that they will not be able to tell and ignore thier own law and they will go against the consitution.
